What Makes This Scar Care Guide Different

Many recovery guides focus only on the physical. But your body doesn’t heal in isolation, your emotions, confidence, and sense of self matter too.

This guide offers a holistic approach. You’ll find body-led practices and emotional insight, but no pressure to be “better” or “over it.” It’s not about pushing through, it’s about feeling safe to begin.

What Others Have Experienced

Why this self-care guide to surgery recovery matters.

When surgery ends, medical care often ends too, even though your body and emotions may still be adjusting.

Long term scar healing is often overlooked, yet it affects so much: how we move, how we feel, and how we connect to our bodies.

Most people are never shown how to care for them in a way that’s truly healing.

There is so much you can do for yourself to help your scar heal in the best way and to gently reconnect with your body again able to move forward in life feeling whole.

This guide is a gentle first step.

It isn’t just about appearance. It’s about comfort, safety, and feeling whole again. Whether your surgery was recent or long ago, you deserve this kind of support.

About the author

Hi I’m Lorna, I’ve been a therapist since 2001 and along the way trained in various therapies including ScarWork, and other modalities that help release trapped emotions, past stresses and shift limiting beliefs.

Having gone through my own major surgery and experiencing the impact of that, I wanted to do more to help others.

I was lucky because my work meant I knew the potential impact that surgery could have on my body and my health in the future. I actively sought help for my scar and releasing the emotional impact of the experience. However, for most people that sort of information and advice isn’t provided.

I put this guide together to share with you some of the things you can do to help your body and mind heal.

It may be that following the advice and exercises in this self-care guide is all you need to fully heal and move forward in life, but if you feel you need more support, I may be able to help.

Based near Martock, South Somerset, UK, I offer gentle, one-to-one hands-on support for post-surgery recovery.

If you feel you need support with the emotional aspects of your recovery, we can work together over Zoom.

Emphasis is always about helping you feel more comfortable, connected, and confident in your body again. My approach is gentle, tailored to you, and guided by what feels right at each step.
